The origin of 'Music from Newt's Prayer Room' is this scene which was set up on my left stereo speaker on December 2024, titled 'Music Corner'.
Within the scene there is a green glass cactus with bubble gum scented pom poms, a Miami Vice styled cat standing behind a semi circular piece of greenstone, and a white china plantbox housing three succulents, in which a small ginger cat is giving a side-eye glance.
What is going on here? How do these elements relate to each other?
My interpretation: The Green Glass Cactus is a power source, whose emanations have caused the succulents to grow. TheSide-Eye Cat is going to cause mischief. I'm not sure of his motives. The Miami Vice Cat is obviously cool. The Greenstone is his treasure. His life is a search for the purpose of the stone. There is a slight unease in the scene.
On the right speaker, there is also a scene, 'Reading Corner.' A large tubular light depicting trees, a gourd-like incense holder, four books (KJV Holy Bible, A Priest's Book of Private Devotions, 1928 Book of Common Prayer, Sursum Corda), sitting on which are are figures of a man and cat who are both reading.
The scene on the left speaker changed in July 2025.
The white china plantbox and three succulents have gone, but a large pillar has arrived. The green glass cactus and pom poms have stayed, so too the the Miami Vice styled cat and his greenstone, along with the side eyeing ginger cat. They have all been joined by a big wooden stripey cat. The side eye cat has moved close to this new visitor.
My interpretation: The succulents' disappearance reveals the life force from the Green Glass Cactus has been diminished. An emanation has failed, and a form of existence has gone. The Pillar is imposing, but also brings light. The Big Cat is a friendly presence. He clasps his paws together in anticipation. Side-Eye Cat thinks the newcomer is exciting. Miami Vice Cat notices the Big Cat, but his focus remains his Greenstone. A significant change has occurred.
In September 2025 I resumed livestreaming Morning Prayer from my new study. My cat Newt joins me and likes to sleep on the couch afterwards. This is why the study is called 'Newt's Prayer Room.'
In November 2025 I bought a Roland D-50 Synthesizer. I had been using a Mustel Harmonium (1904) exclusively since 2004. The arrival of the D-50, and subsequent PG 1000 programmer, along with some midi bass pedals has been a real joy. The whole purchase was very impulsive, but has so far proven to be inspired. The D-50 is a beautiful sounding synthesizer, and is far more complex than I initally thought. It lives in 'Newt's Prayer Room.'
In January 2026 I purchased a 3D printed minature Roland D-50 from Optima House on Etsy. It is an excellent replica. This proved to be a pivotal moment in the world.
In February 2026 the model D-50 joined the world on the left speaker. This scene was called 'Music from Newt's Prayer Room'.
